“As Bhubhu Pass connects Kullu and Kangra, a tunnel would reduce the distance by the two valleys drastically and facilitate movement of people between the two places. People of Kullu valley are early looking for such connectivity and the central government should provide funds for Bhubhu Jyot tunnel project in public interest,” said Thakur at a press conference on Wednesday (9.9.2015).

The leader who is also president of Janahit Vikas Samiti, Kullu also raised many other issues of public interest.

Appreciating the chief minister’s efforts in resolving the encroachment issues he said, “a high powered committee constituted by chief minister Virbhadra Singh should sympathetically look at all encroachment cases, especially those concerning landless people.”

Speaking about damaged and dangerous roads conditions in Kullu district he said, “Many roads need to repaired and improved immediately as they were proving to be very dangerous for travel. The Aut-Luhari road and the narrow road to Manikaran valley should be improved without any delay.”

Mentioning the upcoming Kullu Dussehra festival, he added that many tourists were expected during the weeklong festival days starting from 26th October, and road conditions need to be improved considerably to handle the influx.
