Srinivasan asked to ‘stay away’ during probe

New Delhi, May 29 (IANS) Embattled BCCI chief N. Srinivasan was Wednesday asked by IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla to ‘stay away’ till a probe ordered into his son-in-law’s links to the spot fixing scandal gets over.

Shukla said after meeting Indian Premier League governing council member Arun Jaitley that Srinivasan should stay away till the Board of Cricket for Control in India investigates Gurunath Meiyappan’s role in the betting scandal.

Srinivasan has until now refused to resign as the BCCI chief, saying he has done no wrong. Meiyappan is now in police custody.

“Srinivasan should stay away till the probe against his son-in-law is on,” Shukla told the media here.

“During the probe, it is better for the BCCI chief to keep a distance. We are concerned about the image of the board. We have requested him to step down till probe is over. It is up to him to decide.”
