Four arrested in Delhi for making, selling firearms

New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) Four people were arrested here for manufacturing and supplying high quality illegal firearms to criminals in the national capital region and Uttar Pradesh, police said Saturday.

Allauddin, 40, Mohammad Rustam, 28, Shakir, 30 and Shehzaad, 22, all from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were arrested Friday from near Shanti Van in north Delhi.

“The gang was operating for the last several years. We got a tip-off that they would be coming to a park near Shanti Van and would be carrying a consignment of illegal firearms,” said a police official.

Police laid a trap and caught the four who were carrying the weapons in a bag. Twenty sophisticated pistols (0.32 bore each) and 20 magazines were recovered by the police.

“The gang has been active for over five years. It manufactured the pistols in Munger (Bihar) and supplied them to Delhi and NCR,” added the official.

According to police, all the four accused are already booked in several cases under the Arms Cct in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
