Twitterati pour scorn, poke fun at Sudipta Sen

Kolkata, April 26 (IANS) Social networking site Twitter is abuzz with scorn and ridicule for the arrested Saradha Group promoter, Sudipta Sen, whose chit fund-driven company went bust after collecting money from lakhs of unsuspecting depositors in West Bengal.

“Sudipta Sen was on way to Ladakh to drive off the Chinese when he was arrested in Kashmir,” said @madversity.

Members of the Twitterati have been coming up with bold views, besides seeking clarification from the purported key figures in the scam which has sucked in depositors – mainly poor people who parked their hard-earned money in the Saradha Group companies.

The depositors were lured by the promise of astronomically high returns of 25-30 percent.

Sen’s 18-page letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation, in which he alleged that over 20 people, including wife of a union minister, a Congress minister from Assam and two Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha members, took money from him, has also become the object of fun.

“Sudipta Sen should have shown his letter to law minister. Too many grammatical errors,” twitted ChandrusWeb.

Fingers have also been pointed at Justice (retd) Markandey Katju, chairperson of the Press Council of India, who had sought pardon for Sanjay Dutt after the actor was convicted under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai bombings case.

“Will@mkatju seek pardon for Sudipta Sen and the politicians implicated? After all, they have already suffered so much,” said a tweet.

However, some users are also worried about Sen’s security. “Highest security should be provided to Sudipta Sen. Considering some high profile names are cropping up, he has to be protected,” said a user.
