BSP leader’s killers sent to two weeks’ judicial custody

New Delhi, April 15 (IANS) A Delhi court Monday sent four men, who allegedly killed BSP leader and business tycoon Deepak Bhardwaj, to two weeks’ judicial custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate Prashant Sharma sent two alleged contract killers Purushottam Rana and Sunil Mann to Tihar jail along with Amit, driver of the killers’ escape vehicle, and Pradeep, who supplied weapons to the murderers.

The court sent them to judicial custody after police moved an application for sending them to judicial custody.

The four accused were presented in court after expiry of their three-day police custody.

The court earlier sent Bhardwaj’s realtor son Nitesh and a lawyer Baljeet Singh Shehrawat to six days’ police custody for allegedly killing his father.

Another co-accused Rakesh, owner of the car used in the crime, is also in judicial custody.

Bhardwaj, a realtor and the richest Delhi candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, with declared assets of over Rs.600 crore, was shot dead March 26 around 9 a.m. at his 35-acre farmhouse in Rajokri in south Delhi.
