Heavy snowfall warning in Himachal

Shimla : Still trying to recover from last week’s heavy snowfall and blizzards the weather man Saturday issued a heavy snowfall warning in the next 48 hours across Himachal Pradesh .
“Snowfall will take place over the higher reaches and at many places in the mid hills of the state ,†the weather office here said .
“The heaviest effect of the western disturbance will take place on Jan 15 and the precipitation will decrease from the night of Jan 16 ,†the forecast said .
“Heavy to very heavy snowfall will take place in isolated places of Himachal Pradesh .â€
Many areas will be lashed by hailstorms while the lower hills will experience rainfall due to the fresh western disturbance .
Last week the state saw heavy snowfall from the lofty heights of Lahaul & Spiti to the foothills of Una and Kangra districts .
Shimla district experienced the heaviest snowfall in six years .
Many snow bound areas still remain cut from the rest of the state . Electricity has not been restored at several places due to snapping of power cables .
Life has not yet returned to normal in the state capital Shimla where the civic authorities have failed to clear the snow and ice at many places including the Mall ,Ridge and other well known streets .
As a result many tourists and locals have had nasty falls on the icy roads some resulting in serious injuries .
