Shimla: To commemorate the raising day of Army Training Command (ARTRAC) is out to present a musical evening by the Army Symphony Band on The Ridge on 2nd October.
The band shall enthral the Shimla residents with a mix of Indian, western and martial music like the evergreen Colonel Bogey March, Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja, Sare Jahan Se Achha, Besame Mucho, to name a few, said an spokesman of ARTRAC.
The Army Symphony Band was raised in 1990 with musicians taken from all military bands. The band has performed in various military tattoos and music festivals in Russia, France, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Malaysia, UK, Germany, Bhutan and Nepal.
‘Train the Indian Army for war and prepare it to win future conflicts’ was the vision set for the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at the time of its raising on 01 October 1991.
Over the past two decades the ARTRAC has come a long way with a constant endeavour towards pursuit of challenges in the Art and Science of Warfare. With its sojourn at Mhow in Central India in 1991, ARTRAC travelled to the Queen of Hills, Shimla in March 1993 where it has stayed ever since.
ARTRAC happens to be the repository for training the Indian Army; it provides training support to the Army in all its facets of development and dissemination of concepts and doctrines, envisaging institutional training and facilitating training of field formations. It is also the interface between the think tanks of the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and the Integrated Defence Staff.
