Dalai Lama opens Buddhist monastery in France

Dharamsala : The Dalai Lama has inaugurated a Tibetan Buddhist monastery at Mont Saleve in France.It has been built by a Russian politician and businessman Raefel Gimalov.

The monastery is situated in France but is just across Geneva in Switzerland.

After welcoming the Dalai Lama Friday, Gimalov said one of the main aims of the centre was to help the people get a better understanding of Tibetan Buddhism.

Hundreds of Tibetans, Mongolians, Swiss ,Russians and French were present on the occasion.The Dalai Lama walked slowly greeting people and every now and then shaking hands.

The Dalai Lama will remain in Europe for the next ten days or so.
