NHPC contributing towards developmental activities

The NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) is spending more than Rupees one hundred crore on various development activities including roads, bridges and environment management plan (EMP) in the ambient of it hydropower projects operating in Chamba district.

Revealing this here today, the NHPC’s Region-II Executive Director Sharat Sharma said that the NHPC had also been utilizing nearly Rupees 30 crore on the CAT plan (catchment area treatment plan) of the Chamera hydroelectric project (stage-III) which was under construction at Dharwala on the river Ravi and nearing completion.

Highlighting the key role of the NHPC in this difficult alpine terrain, the Executive Director claimed that the road network had been strengthened and bridges to link the most interior belts of the district had been constructed. Besides several milestones had been set up by constructing enormous Sitla Bridge across the river Ravi on Chamba-Pathankot highway, huge additional structure of the regional hospital at Chamba and other buildings at Sundla and Banikhet; executive director further mentioned.
