Himachal police book two for possessing charas, opium

Shimla: In two separate cases, police seized over 4.5 Kgs of contraband charas and about 40 grams of opium, arresting two persons on whom the psychotic drug substances were found.

On Wednesday afternoon, police at a naka party near Fadaz Pul in Nerwa area of Chopal in Shimla district nabbed on Shamshad Ali (48), a resident of Thaliwalla village in Dehradun district, with 4.5 Kgs of Charas. Ali was travelling on a motorcycle, when police in a surprise check recovered the contraband from him.

A case against Shamshad Ali under ND&PS ACT has been registered at Police Station Nerwa, said police officer Chaman Lal Bhatia.

A police raiding party on Thursday recovered 40 gms of opium and 10 gms of Charas from the possession of Layak Ram, who runs a dabha in Theog tehsil of Shimla district.

Ram a resident of Nalta village in Theog has been booked under ND&PS ACT at Theog police station, said Kamal Chand, the investigating police officer.
