NABARD sanctions Rs 29.19 Crore for rural infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today announced sanctioning of Rs 29.19 crore towards creation of rural infrastructure in the state.

With sanction of this tranche, the total funds approved funder Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for 2010-11 has gone upto Rs 208.44 crore said AD Ratnoo, chief general manager NABARD.

The funds sanctioned today have marked for construction of 9 rural roads and 2 bridges. The roads and bridges will be constructed in Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Una districts, said Ratnoo.

Under these projects, 61.76kilometers of all-weather roads, 14.225 kms of kutcha roads and 02 bridges with total span of 59.75 metres are to be constructed. After completion of these roads and bridges, 87 villages with a population of over 25000 would stand to benefit directly or indirectly, he said.

The new road network would also provide connectivity to 30 rural and urban marketing centres, he added.

Under various RIDF programs NABARD has so far sanctioned Rs 2900 crore to Himachal Pradesh of which Rs 1796.29 crore stands released.

The sanctioned projects cover 1472 irrigation projects, 762 rural roads projects, 218 bridges, 118 watershed projects, 36 fllood protection works, 1213 primary school buildings, 64 science laboratories in schools, 25 IT projects, 513 rural drinking water schemes, 397 animal husbandry centres, 16500 polyhouses with related minor irrigation structures and more than 20000 hectares of micro irrigation structures.
