Ambuja, ACC Cement to construct sport stadia in Himachal

Shimla: Short on funds, the Himachal government has roped in cement companies Ambuja and ACC for construction of sports stadia at Dharamshala and Hamirpur.

The state cabinet that met today with chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal approved the memorandum of agreement (MOA) to be signed between the Department of Youth Services and Sports and Ambuja Cements and ACC Cements for providing Rs 4 crore each for the construction of a sports stadium at Dharamshala and at Hamirpur, a cabinet spokesman stated.

The cabinet today decided to change the recruitment policy of doctors by making a provision to absorb contractually appointed doctors who have spent 6 years on the job into the states regular health services.

At the same time services of 66 medical officers, who have successfully completed six years of contractual services stand regularized under the policy changes made.

To generate skilled manpower to man veterinary dispensaries, the cabinet approved recruitment of 800 veterinary assistants for training to fill existing vacancies.

The cabinet approved the recommendations of Justice Padamanabhan Committee about release of revised pay scales to judiciary officers of subordinate courts from 1 January, 2006.

The cabinet decided to shift the office of Superintending Engineer (North) HIMUDA from Shimla to Hamirpur for overseeing project implementations in lower areas.

It approved addition and expansion of existing accommodation in Circuit Houses of Mandi, Hamirpur, Rest Houses at Thural in district Kangra, Talai in district Bilaspur and Samirpur in district Hamirpur with a view to create more space for boarding and lodging at these places.

It approved creation of 18 posts of Mining Guard on contract basis and filling up of 57 posts of different categories on contract basis which includes 36 posts of Mining Guards, to be filled up out of surplus pool, 2 Technical Assistants, 5 Mining Officers, 4 Mining Inspectors, 3 Assistant Mining Inspectors, to strengthen the Geological Wing of the Industries Department and to check unscientific and illegal mining in the State; 2 posts of District Public Relations Officers/Information Officers in the Department of Information and Public Relations, 5 posts of Steno-Typists in the Department of Forests.

Taking cognizance of the reports appearing about malfunctioning of private Nursing Institute at Palampur and similar complaints being received about other training institutes, the Cabinet decided to re-inspect all educational, vocational and health training institutes so as to ensure that mandatory infrastructural facilities were in place for the trainings being imparted.

If any irregularity is found, strict action would be taken, as per the legal provisions, against the Member of the Committee, recommending ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) to sanction the Centre and responsibility fixed against the errant’s, the cabinet note warned.

The cabinet decided to transfer the authority of organizing District Level Fairs and Festival to local bodies so as to ensure local participation and upholding the culture and traditions during such events.

The cabinet also decided to declare Janmashtmi Mela, Yula-kanda Bhagwain in village Yula, Tehsil Nichar and Guru Chhan Gayad Mela in village Rarang in district Kinnaur, as District Level Fairs.
