Work on 243 MW Khasang project to start soon – Dhumal

Shimla: An three stage 243 MW hydropower project in tribal region of Kinnaur has been accorded environment clearance by ministry of environment and forest, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal disclosed today.
The chief minister said that a letter to the effect from the central ministry was received by the state today.
Named as the Khasang project, the state owned HP Power Corporation is executing the project with funding from Asian Development Bank.
With having obtained environment clearance, the executing agency was now in a position to start construction work, said the chief minister.
In the first stage, a 65 MW project would be executed for which a Rs 297 crore loan had been approved by ADB.
For the remaining 130 MW integrated 2nd and 3rd stage, ADB had been approached for additional Rs 453 crore funding to execute the complete project, he added.
