Himachal IG booked over a girl’s suicide case

Shimla: An Inspector General of Himachal Pradesh Police, Pardeep Kumar Sarpal, along with his wife and son are booked over a case of suicide by a 27-year-old girl, Ritu Kalmotia, under sections 306 and 201, sources said.
On the FIR lodged by girl’s father, the IGP officer’s family was booked for abetting to suicide and trying to destroy evidences following the alleged suicide by Ritu, a teacher at BEd College, whose marriage with the officer’s son could not materialise.
Ritu hung herself at her residence in Tutu, Shimla.
The case has been handed over to the Himachal Pradesh Crime Investigation Department.
