The BJP central election committee that met at Delhi on Monday with President Nitin Gadkari in the chair decided upon Bimla Kashyap as the party candidate, a BJP party worker said.
Earlier the party had shortlisted five names which included Radha Raman Shastri – a former speaker, Chandermohan Thakur, chairman cooperative bank, Bimla Kashyap – president Mahila Morcha, Ashok Kapahtia – BJP spokesman and retired Lt General HS Kanwar for the lone seat from Himachal.

Highly disappointed that even though they wanted a woman candidate representation, they have no one in the Goverment representing the Army, when majority of the people hail from Army background in Himachal.
It’s high time they do..!
Glad to know that finally the first woman candidate has been nominated from HP for the Rajya Sabha. This kind of recognition will really motivate grass-root level workers to showcase their talents and work harder for their state and later on their country. Mrs Kashyap has really made all of us proud, as a diligant BJP worker for the past 15yrs or so.
