7 water samples tested Hepatitis-E positive, Shimla

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Health Department and IPH Department did Water Surveillance and sent eight water samples of Shimla city to National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi out of them seven were tested positive for Hepatitis-E, told an official spokesperson.
In a meeting of senior Health Department, IPH Department and Municipal Corporation including Director Health Services, Engineer-in-Chief, IPH, Chief Engineer (South), IPH, Senior Medical Superintendent, IGMC, CMO Shimla, MS DDU Hospital, Health Officer Shimla Municipal Corporation and State Surveillance Officer on Friday discussed the occurrence of Jaundice in the Shimla city.
The State Surveillance Officer informed in the meeting that the cases of Jaundice were being reported from Shimla town mainly from Kasumpti, Vikasnagar, New Shimla, Chhota Shimla area.
The spokesperson also highlighted that people were being educated in affected areas by distributing pamphlets and issuing advertisements in print media.
