There is lack of political will in imposing a green tax and it was only at the instance of the Himachal High Court that a vehicle tax of Rs 200/- per vehicle was imposed for Manali.

Hi

the last time when I was in Shimla in the early morning walk I was greeted by smell of diesel. The way hotels have been constructed all over the place - obviously trees have given way to concrete.

Does it require a doctorate in the environment engineering that the plundering of our hill stations (sorry we are yet to create one - all the hill stations were created by the Britishers) will lead to water shortage, rising temperatures, etc.?

You should make the entry tax into Shimla Rs. 500 per person and use that money for re-forestation, and every car should pay Rs. 3000. Local vehicles should be given 3 years to be made CNG compliant....or your kids will have to look for a hill station to go to in the month of May!!
