Himachal Lok Adalat Disposes of 1500 Pendency

Shimla: To clear up pendency, a mega Lok Adalat organised here today settled 1500 cases of different sections and provided relief to many litigants.
In all 193 cases under Negotiable Instrument Act (NIA) and 1288 cases under Motor Vehicle Act (MVA) were settled in the special Lok Adalat, said Yashwant Singh Chogal chief judicial magistrate (CJM), who himseld headed one of the benches.
He said, eight benches were constituted by the district and session judge B R Chandel for the purpose and every bench was headed by a judicial magistrate.
The NIA cases settled pertained mainly bouncing of bank cheque while those under MVA related to challans for violating traffic rules, said Chogal.
The mega Lok Adalat was organised by District Legal Service Authority, Shimla, under chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge BR Chandel.
Purpose of organising the special Lok Adalat was to clear off pending cases, Chogal said adding Sunday was chosen to make it convenient for litigants to make it.
