Centre sanctions Rs 3.5 crore satellite communication project for Himachal

Shimla: On the state governments request, the centre has approved a Rs 3.50 crore statellite communication project for the state, Jai Ram Thakur, minister for rural development disclosed.
After meeting senior functionaries of the central governments Panchayati Raj department, the minister disclosed that an amount of Rs 1.72 crore had been released for the communication project.
This facility would enable all Gram Panchayats to get connected with video conferencing facility it would go a long-way in strengthening of Panchayati Raj Institutes as the Panchayat Pradhan would get access to direct communication regarding development programmes and in dealing with the problems they face in implementing them, said Thakur.
He said that the a proposal for setting up a Panchayati Raj Training Institute at Mandi had also in principal been agreed upon by the central ministry.
