Himachal shopkeepers asked to display price lists

Shimla: With prices of food items showing no signs of falling, the government has asked the business community to display price lists. At the same time officers have been directed to maintain a vigil over import of eatables and oversee that hoarding, black marketing and heavy profiteering is effectively checked.
Food and civil supply minister Ramesh Dhawala stated that the government was alive to the interests of consumers and effective steps to control prices were being taken.
Presiding over a meeting of officials from the food and civil supply department, the minster asked them to ensure the price lists at every commercial complex in the state were displayed.
Asking the officials to be vigilant towards black marketing and hoarding, he said that distribution of essential commodities needed to be streamlined under targeted public distribution system to ensure check of misuse.
The minister sought cooperation from the business community for displaying rate and stock lists at their shops.
