My Himachal announces HOPE Scholarships 2009

Current economic downturn has adversely impacted all of us, but those who were already on the lower edges of financial prosperity during our good times, have been hit the hardest. Lets not forget about them, help them as best as we can, and provide much needed HOPE for a better future.

My Himachal Scholarships Committee is pleased to announce HOPE (Helping Outstanding Pupils’ Education) Scholarships to help deserving bona fide Himachali students (from 8th class and up to 10+2 level) enrolled in Himachal Pradesh government schools, pay for tuition fees, books and school uniforms for the academic year 2009-2010 on Merit-cum-Means basis.

The number of school children that we will be able to help, depends heavily on the funds raised from your generous donations. For the year 2008, we received over 200 applications, but were able to reachout to only 81 of the applicants, due to limited funds. Your Generous donation will be greatly appreciated!!!

My Himachal members and subscribers residing in Himachal, are urged to download & print copies of these forms, visit their local schools and make representations to the respective school principals and contacts to encourage them to make as many copies of these and distribute them amongst the students who may wish to apply for the scholarship this year.

My Himachal members residing outside Himachal, can send these forms to their relatives and contacts in Himachal to help us reach out to students who may need financial assistance for education.

    Dear friends,

    We have received 108 eligible applications for HOPE Scholarships (School) 2009. These applicants, on average have obtained 72% marks during the last academic year and belong to families (with 5 members, on average) supported by an income of Rs. 25,000/- p.a (USD 556/- p.a.)

    We need at least Rs. 2,80,000/- to support these applicants this year. However, based on available funds, we can only support about 35 of them at this time.

    PLEASE HELP as much as you can, to enable these deserving and needy students. A donation of USD 55/- (Rs. 2475/-) can help us fund the scholarship for 1 student.

    We would like to start disbursing scholarships by December 15th 2009. We will be able to support as many students as possible based on your help with funds.
