Super-Max Group to re-start Shoghi factories in Himachal

Shimla: A labour dispute having forced a ten month lockout at Tigaksha Metallics & Virgo Appliances (Super-Max Group) factories at Shoghi industrial complex, notwithstanding, the company has proposed a roll-back plan to re-start the units.
Among other things we intend to manufacture of hack-saw blades, surgical blades, barber razors, razors for twin blades, industrial blades at the Shoghi plants, said Subhash D. Chaudhuri, GM, Corporate Super-Max group. We also plan to manufacture of toiletries, cosmetics, shaving cream etc, he added.
The company has identified opportunities of exporting these products in the global market said Chaudhuri adding that the new machinery for the purpose was likely to arrive at Shoghi, from Mumbai during the next week.
The company has suffered Rs 1000 million losses since Shoghi units were shutdown on 30th June, 2008, he claimed.
Following a dispute between the workers and the management, the workers were fired upon by personal security guards of the unit in which one worker was killed and several others were injured. The factories had been facing a lockout ever since as the dispute was not resolved.
