Shimla: A driver, under treatment for alcoholism, jumped of a hospital building and survived the fall with severe head injuries and broken ribs.

Kuldeep Kumar, (40) the Himachal roadways driver, after jumping off the balcony of Indira Gandhi Medical college and hospital has survived the two floor fall, though he is not out of danger, said Rattan Chand, a police official.

Kumar was admitted to the hospital two days ago for treatment of alcoholism and when his wife went out to buy medicines on Monday, he took the opportunity to jump of the building.

Treating doctors said that the he had sustained head injuries and had broken ribs.
