Shimla: Holding unemployment and migration of rural youth to urban areas as the main issue afflicting the people in Shimla parliamentary constituency, Virender Kashyap, the BJP nominee for the seat is all prepared to embark upon his second round of electioneering in all the 17 assembly segments.
Speaking to the media, Kashyap said that of the many elections he has fought earlier, it was the first occasion when he was a candidate when his party was at the helm of affairs in the state. “The states governments 15 months performance would propel him into winning the seat for the BJP,’ he said.
Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s government was framing policies that was proving development inclusive for all sections of society,†he said. And this would ensure that the party would come out winner at the ballot, he added.
Holding opposition congress responsible for the backwardness of Sirmaur district, he said that tourism had tremendous potential in the region and it had not be optimized by the congress which has ruled the state for a long period.
Kashyap even though has fought ten elections – six for parliament and four assembly ones, is yet to win his first ballot contest.
Earlier spokesman Khushi Ram Balnatha said that first phase of electioneering in the constituency had been completed in which meets with party workers in all 17 assembly segments had been held.
“Second phase of electioneering would start from 5th April and would be completed by 1st May. During this campaign, the candidate would hold mass meetings, introduce the party program and learn about the peoples expectations and demands off the candidate, said Balnahta.
He said that people were looking for a change as Dhani Ram Shandil, the congress candidate had failed them. “There were allegations that MP Shandil had visited many parts of the constituency during his entire term and he had not bothered to stand by his people when rains wrecked havoc last September, said the BJP spokesman.
