Himachal Govt. makes amendments in Panchayati Raj Act

Shimla: Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, while addressing the ‘Samman Samaroh’ organized by ‘Gram Panchayat Up Pradhan Sangh’ at Sundernagar, stated that the State Government had carried necessary amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act, to hold election to the posts of Pradhan and Up Pradhan directly, as was the practice prior to the Act, amended during previous regime.
Prof. Dhumal added that honorarium of the representatives of PRIs was also increased substantially alongwith every other section of the society. The PRI representatives were benefitted with 21 percent increase in their honorarium during past one year and it was a historical decision taken by the State govt..
