Shimla: Public sector hydropower generator Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) has acquired land for construction of its corporate headquarters in a Shimla suburb, for which the foundation stone and bhoomi pujan would be done on Sunday.
Company spokesman Vijay Verma stated the chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal would perform the bhoomi pujan and Jairam Ramesh, union minister for power and commerce would preside over the ceremony.
The sprawling complex is to come up on a 28 bigha land piece at Sanahan village adjacent to the national highway 22 in Shimla.
The proposed company’s corporate office complex is to have an office building of about one lakh square feet area, a multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of 700 people, a field hostel with 28 sets including VIP suits, residential quarters for maintenance and essential services staff..
The complex will have the facilities of water recycling, rain water harvesting, use of energy efficient and eco-friendly equipment, renewable energy and indoor air quality for human safety and comfort. The building will also have photo-voltaic cover glass to enable active use of solar radiation by turning it into electrical energy.
Presently the Corporate office of the company is housed in seven buildings around New Shimla while the guest houses are located in five buildings in Shimla. The location of the company’s offices at one place will essentially add to the efficiency of working besides leading to cost savings on account of rentals being paid, the spokesman said.
