BIG TV becomes the biggest DTH service in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: BIG TV, the fully digital DTH service from Reliance Communications has achieved over 14,000 subscribers across Himachal Pradesh and has a network of over 1,000 retail outlets within a small time of its launch.

With BIG TV’s 100-member installation team who has been given specialized training to tackle hilly terrains and inaccessible areas and set-up smoothly functioning DTH connections, it has garnered 60% market share in Karsog Valley, Naduan Valley, Rohru & Kotkhai and Palampur Valley which have very few paved roads.

“We attribute this success to the faith of millions of Indian consumers in the Reliance brand. Our customer-centric approach coupled with advanced technology, superior product & service with a wide distribution and installation service network spanning the country helped BIG TV cross the million milestone in such a short span of time,” said Mr. Mahesh Prasad, President, Reliance Communications.

Reliance BIG TV DTH deploys MPEG-4 technology platform that enables it to offer over 200 TV, Cinema and Audio channels. Offering 32 exclusive movie channels in English, Hindi and Regional languages, BIG TV DTH offers a choice of 600 new movies every year and is available at multiple price points and packages to suit needs of all customer segments, said Rupesh Singh.

The state-of-the-art customer service mechanism is fully functional and ready to serve our increasing customer base every day in 11 Indian languages. Available at over 100,000 retail outlets across 6,500 towns combined with over 2,000 exclusive Reliance branded stores, BIG TV DTH is the largest retail rollout of a Home Entertainment Service in India, added Rupesh K.     I doubt the claims of the company. Reliance is one company which has pathetic after sales services. What the company hasn’t told is till a month back, the company was not releasing any stock of the BIG TV. The reason being that the company had placed orders for the top boxes at the earlier prevelant $ rate and now once the rupee had slumped down, the company is having second thoughts at honoring the orders at the advertised prices. What ever little knowledge I have, Tata Sky is the market leader in dish TV segment in Himachal and even this company had a lots of harrassed customers during Diwali when it was taking 10 days to get the dish installed due to shortage of manpower and and huge orders.

    Reliance, whether it is the telecom or the DTH segment, needs to pull up its socks in after sales. Pathetic is one word which describes Reliance best in Himachal.

    I really feel sorry for you! I happen to be a consumer who has burnt money on Reliance and has been swindled by Reliance. I am a consumer and am supposed to be a king but sadly Reliance treats it’s customers as jerks.

    In my whole village out of 45 house hold 35 have reliance big tv.We are very delighted with the Big TV service & customer centric approch.I will congrates the whole big tv team for there achievement.
