Shimla: At least 17 persons were injured when a Himachal Roadways bus overturned near Nehri Phul in Sirmaur district, in the morning hours on Friday. Separately, 8 persons were injured in another accident near Rampur on Thursday evening when brakes of a private bus failed.
The state roadways (HRTC) bus was on its way from Phul Bhal in Sirmaur to the state capital when it overturned, the police said. Twelve of the injured have been shifted to IGMC in Shimla are being treated. Cause of the accident could not be ascertained, immediately.
A marriage party aboard on a private bus had a narrow escape when the brakes of the vehicle failed on Thursday evening, near Rampur (about 130 Km from here) forcing the driver to hit it onto the hill side that left at least 8 people injured.
“Of the eight injured, three were serious and have been shifted to IGMC hospital at Shimla,” said Gopal Chand, the sub-divisional magistrate at Rampur. All the passengers in the bus were medically examined and five have been admitted to Rampur hospital, he added. There were over 40 passengers in the bus.
