Shimla: The Himachal government plans to hand two project to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL), namely 775 MW Luhri Project on Satluj River and another 40 MW Dhaulasidh Project, in which the state will maintain an equity share, power secretary Ajay Mittal disclosed today.
He said the memorandum of agreements for handing over the two projects would be singed shortly. SJVNL has agreed to the government’s term of keeping the states equity share at 49 percent in the Luhri project, said Mittal.
On its part SJVNL claimed that the public sector company was ready to sign agreements for two hydropower projects at the earliest.
SJVNL spokesman Vijay Verma said that at a meet with chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday, chairman-cum-managing director HK Sharma informed him that the company intended to sign the agreements for the two projects.
On the occasion Sharma also presented a Rs 27 crore dividend cheque to the chief minister for the share the government holds in the 1500 MW Jhakri hydro electric plant. SJVNL has already paid an interim dividend of Rs 34 crore earlier.
Sharma said that the company had declared a dividend of Rs 244 crore for the financial year 2007-08 out of which the central government had been paid a dividend of Rs.183 crore. It was the highest ever dividend declared by SJVNL, said Sharma.
