2 more national highways sanctioned – Dhumal

Shimla: The union government has sanctioned two more national highways for the state, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal disclosed at a public meet at Bilaspur on Tuesday.
Addressing a public meeting at Gwalthai industrial after inaugurating a steel manufacturing plant, the chief minister said that the centre had approved the states proposal of upgrading the Nagrota-Bagwan-Ranital Mubarakpur and Paonta-Sahib-Shillai-Hatkoti roads into national highways.
Assuring the industrialists of upgrading the available infrastructure, he said that cooperative bank branch would be opened, telephone communications would be upgraded, the police chowki would be strengthened and an ESI dispensary would be opened in the industrial area.
To improve housing in industrial areas, Dhumal said the government would spend Rs 240 crore for construction of 12,000 rooms.
He said that road connectivity was the basic requirement for the development of any area and the same was being accorded top priority.
