Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Kangra, Tanda to be developed as AIIMS

Prem Kumar Dhumal, the Chief Minister addressing the “Samman Samaroh” organized by Palampur Journalists Association at Palampur said that the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Kangra at Tanda would be developed as health education institution and hospital of AIIMS level.

He said that a proposal had been sent to the Government of India in lieu of its decision to provide every State with a health institution of the AIIMS standard. The state government had also proposed a suitable site at Katola near Mandi town for setting up of an IIT sanctioned for the State while the inspection team of HRD Ministry would visit the State on 25th and 26th July, 2008 to finally approve the site. Meanwhile a Central University has been proposed to be set up at Dehra in Kangra and a Disaster Management Battalion near Nurpur.

As per the government plans, four new medical colleges would be chalked out at Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur and Hamirpur.

    its really good to hear about it because people have to go to chandigarh in case of an emergancy however i suppose this issue has been sorted out now… keep it up
