CM Thanks Centre For Approval To Himachal IIT

Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal expressed gratitude to the Government of India for giving approval in its Cabinet Meeting today for setting up IIT in the State.

Chief Minister said that the State Government repeatedly and forcefully pleaded the case of opening IIT in the State with the Central Government which finally materialized. He said that it would go a long way in providing high-level education in engineering and technology to the students of the State besides encouraging competitive spirit, which would enable them to enter national and international orbit of learning. He said that classes in the IIT would start from the next session.

Prof. Dhumal said that a sizeable tract of land measuring 530 acre had already been made available by the State Government free of cost for setting up this institute par excellence in Mandi district. He said that many ambitious policies and programmes are being implemented by his Government to make the State an education hub.

Chief Minister has urged the Centre to have largesse for providing generous financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh so that Dev Bhoomi Himachal Pradesh could be made frontrunner in every field.
