Himachal Government would grant permission to National Mineral Development Corporation (NDMC) to carry limestone extraction in Arki, district Solan with an estimated investment of 500 crores generating direct and indirect employment to over 5,000 persons in the region.
Addressing the meeting, P.K.Dhumal, the Chief Minister said that the state government was concerned about its environmental safeguards thus, NDMC has been directed to strictly follow the environmental norms while carrying extraction of the limestone. The limestone extracted by NDMC would be supplied to the Ambuja Cements Limited for use in manufacturing cement till the time it succeeds in finding permanent buyer, a steel industry, since the ‘fines’ mineral extracted consists of vital ingredient for manufacturing steel while the other mineral ‘lumps’ would be beneficial for the cement industry.
Rana Som, the Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NDMC, assured the Chief Minister that the organization was serious about starting the installation of the plant in the leased area and would adhere to the guidelines provided by the state government.
