HIMURJA would reinvestigate work of the mini and micro hydro electric projects within their jurisdiction to ascertain the accurate potential available in specific projects said Prem Kumar Dhumal, the Chief Minister as he presided over the Annual General Meeting of the HIMURJA.
He said that various reports have been received from various quarters with regard to under estimation of some of the projects while in reality the potential was much higher. He announced that the state government was completing all codal formalities to assign the entire identified hydro potential for speedy execution while urging various departments, offices and institutions to adopt solar passive modes for meeting their energy requirements. He asked HIMURJA to gear up its awareness campaign to motivate the people go eco-friendly in energy sector while referring to the governments initiative to monitor release of a minimum 15 percent flow of water discharge available downstream of the diversion structure through out the year besides ensuring 70 per cent employment to the bonafide Himachalis at all level in the projects.
He also stressed on the need to identify the locations where potential for wind energy persisted so that the state could emerge a ‘Power House’ in the real sense.
