Rain, Thundershowers To Lash Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Prolonging the mid-summer cool spell that the hills are experiencing, the meteorological department has further forecast spells of rain that could be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail over the next 24 hours.
Director, Shimla Meteorological department Manmohan Singh said that a western disturbance was active over the region and the state would experience hailstorms followed by thunder squalls at isolated places.
The disturbance was centered over central Pakistan and western Rajasthan he said adding that temperatures were expected to drop by a couple of notches over the next two days.
Meanwhile adjoining areas around Narkanda did experience bouts of hail, late in the afternoon and much damage to fruit crops has been reported.
The state capital recorded a maximum of 22.2 degrees and a low of 14.4 degrees Celsius over the last 24 hours. Overcast conditions prevailing over Shimla and adjoining throughout the day.
