‘Naman 1857′, Shaheed Kalash in Himachal

Mrs. Sarveen Choudhary Social Justice and Empowerment Minister handed over ‘Shaheed Kalash’, containing sacred soil of all the places connected with first war of independence to Tulsi Ram, Speaker, H.P. Vidhan Sabha here today. Mrs. Chaudhary received the “Shaheed Kalash” on behalf of State Government from Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, Deputy Leader BJP in Rajya Sabha at New Delhi on 22nd April, 2008.
‘Naman 1857′ programmes would be organized all over the State to commemorate 150th anniversary of First War of Independence. Shaheed kalash containing sacred soil of all the places connected with first war of independence will be moved to Dharamsala, Shimla, Kangra and Chamba districts of the State and State Government will organise various programmes during the visit of Shaheed Kalash in the places where the sacrifices made by the veteran freedom fighters will be highlighted and modern youth will be awakened and educated about the various aspects of initial phases of freedom struggle to emotionally integrate them with the motherland.
Sacrifices made by Himachali freedom fighters and the role of hilly people in freedom struggle will also be highlighted through audio, video and printing material. Freedom fighters and their families will be specially invited in all such programmes and will be requested to share their experiences of freedom struggle with youth, particularly the school students.
