Government to concentrate on planned tourism development

atlas.JPGAddressing the three day long International Conference, “ATLAS Backpacker Mobilities- An Expert Conference” jointly organized by Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, H.P. University and the Association for Tourism and Leisure Education (ATLAS), Prof. P.K.Dhumal said that the state government would prepare a master plan for tourism development in a planned way.

The State, also known as the ‘land of the Gods’ and being blessed with different climate conditions is thronged by tourists all the year round. Backpacker tourism has been emerging as a global tourism trend with large number of youth and children exploring different destinations all over the world. Prof. Dhumal proposed to form a tourism plan that would include creation of the required basic quality infrastructural facilities, harnessing of the available natural potential, attractive packages for students, publicity literature and heli taxi services to facilitate the tourists.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof.P.K.Dhumal and will continue for two more days. The chief minister released the souvenir brought out by ATLAS to mark the occasion and also released ‘Himalayan Experience’, a publication on the occasion.
