State to provide fertilizers to farmers – CM

Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal today revealed that the state government is committed to provide adequate quality fertilizer to the farmers of the state at remunerative prices at their door steps to help them procure better yield of their crops.
He said that he had requested the Union Chemical and Fertilizers Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, to make available 7,500 metric tonnes of additional quality fertilizer to the state on priority since the supply already made had fallen short of the demand of the farmers of the state. He said that the state had already presented its demand to the quarter concern well before the onset of the sowing season but the demand had not been met with and state was supplied only 17,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer against the demand of 30,500 metric tonnes of fertilizer. He said that the issue was being raised repeatedly with the quarter concerned but the supply had failed to reach the state which was hampering the farming activities in the state.
Dhumal further said that his government is committed to strengthen agriculture sector and boost employment to the rural people.
