Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign targets 7.32 lakhs children in Himachal

Shimla: Chief Secretary, Ravi Dhingra, said that on 6th January and 10th February 2008 around 7.32 lakhs children in the age group of 0-5 will be administered pulse polio drops in 1st and 2nd rounds of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign in Himachal Pradesh.
He also disclosed that 5855 polio booths will be set up besides 93 mobile teams, 86 transit teams to cover remote and inaccessible areas besides covering high risk areas like slums and industrial areas. He said that about 25000 officials from Health, Ayurveda, Social Justice departments, NGOs and NSS volunteers would be involved to make the campaign a success in the State.
After administering polio drops, door to door campaign will also be conducted on 7th and 8th January in the first round and 11th and 12th February in the second round to ensure that no child was left out in the state, he added.
