Maxi-Cab Accident Kills 16 Of Marriage Party In Himachal

Shimla: A ten year old child was the sole survivor where as 16 others were killed when a Tempo Trax Maxi-Cab went of the road near Bithal on the Kumarsain-Rampur stretch of the Indo-Tibet border road (about 100 Km from Shimla) at about 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Dalip Negi, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rampur over phone told My Himachal News Bureau that of the 16 dead, 8 are women. “The victims are part of a marriage party that was going from Nirmand village of Kullu to Challan village in Kumarsain,” said Negi.
The accident occurred at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, he said. Cause of the accident could not be immediately ascertained but the vehicle has rolled down a substantial distance and came to rest on the bank of River Satluj, informed Negi.
The child has been shifted to Khaneri hospital in Rampur and is out of danger. The administration has distributed immediate relief to the next of the kin of the victims who died in the accident, said Negi.
