4 die, 13 injured as bus overturns in Himachal

PARWANOO: 4 person died and 13 other injured when a private bus carrying them turned turtle near Timber Trail Resort on Kalka-Shimla national highway about 2-km from here today. The bus (HP-64-4041) was going to Parwanoo from Solan. The bus having seat capacity of 28 had 40 persons on board, the most of which were school and ITI going students and employees of various government departments.

The accident took place at around 9.45 am when Yogesh the driver of the bus could not negotiate a sharp curve. As per bus passengers, the bus was being driven at very high speed. The people were standing at windows due to no space available inside the bus. The bus hit the parapets before to turn turtle.

accident-pix-1.jpgThe police reached at spot within 5 minutes. The police arranged jacks from the crossing trucks and pulled passengers from bus. Those standing at windows were worse sufferers while those on seats got minor injuries.

Hemant Kumar (21) from Banog near Bhojnagar, Netar Singh (23) from Banasar and Narinder from Dumehar in Arki were died at ESI Hospital, Parwanoo. While Bhupinder (17) a student from Datiyar has breathed his last at Government Medical College and Hospital Sector 32, Chandigarh. Rekha Devi (18), Chander Kant (20) and Babu Ram (29) have been referred to Government Hospital, Sector 32.

Those admitted in ESI, Hospital, Parwanoo are: Sheetal ( 48), Gopi Nath ( 48), Ved Raj ( 22) , Madan Lal ( 27), Vidya ( 42) , Puja ( 22), Krishan Gurang ( 42), Ashish ( 39), Amar Singh ( 32) and Rajni ( 41). The most of injured were locals.

Yogesh managed to flee from spot and could not be arrested till now. The police teams have been dispatched to trace him. Yogesh hailed from Dharampur. He had reportedly involved in an accident earlier. A case under section 279, 337, 338 and 304-A of IPC has been registered.
