Gandhi Jyanati observed as Non violence day in Hamirpur

The birthday of Bapu Gandhi was observed here as the Non violence day by taking oath to shun the violent path and work for communal harmony. Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner, Nandita Gupta, Presided over the function.

She also administered oath of morality to all those present in the function.

Ms. Gupta who took over as the new Deputy Commissioner of the district only two day ago started a campaign of cleanliness by cleaning the shrubs adjoining the local school campus.

Speaking on occasion, she underlined the need for following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. She said, the teachings of Bapu Gandhi were still relevant and entire world was working on those.

She gave a call to shun the dowry, drinking and other social evils that were harming the nation.

Similar functions were also held in the districts of Kangra, Chamba, Una, Bilaspur and Mandi, where rich tributes were paid to Bapu Gandhi.

Prabhat pheris were also taken out in the entire district in which the bhajans sung by Bapu Gandhi were also sung by those present in the prabhat pheris.
