Congress leader among five killed in accidents

NAHAN : During past twenty four hours five persons including a senior Congress leader of Sirmour district have been killed in two separate accidents.

A car [HP 16A – 3000] on way to Dhamander village, which was returning from Badu meeting of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh fell into a deep gorge near Sheelabag on the Rajgarh-Neri Pul-Pulbahal road last night in which three persons Gyan Singh Verma, Senior Vice President of Sirmour Dictrict Congress Committee and a resident of Dhamander village, Sahi Ram Verma and Jai Ram Verma, both resident of Tali Bhujjal village under Rajgarh Sub Division were killed on the spot.

They were rushed to Rajgarh Hospital but could not survive. Mr Gangu Ram Musafir, Speaker Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in his condolence message received here this evening has expressed his deep grief on the deaths and said that with the demise of Gyan Singh Verma, Sirmour district has lost a leading social worker and politician of a stature.

In another accident which took place last night at Bhoop Pur [Paonta] a Truck [HR 37-1033] crushed a Motorcycle under its tyres and killed on the spot two persons riding on the motorcycle including one Ayub Khan rider of the bike and a resident of Paonta area.

Paonta Police has arrested driver of the truck, Ishwer Chand and a case has been registered in this regard.
