SJVN bags two Greentech Awards

SHIMLA:The Greentech Foundation, New Delhi has once again adjudged the Environmental Management practices adopted by SJVNL in its 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station as ‘Exemplary’ for the third consecutive year in a row, for a Silver Award. The country’s largest hydropower project implemented by public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. has been practicing the Environment Management aspects for upgrading the environment and maintaining ecological balance in the Project vicinity. The Power Project has already been certified as ISO 14001:2000 station for its environment management by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
SJVNL’s 412 MW Rampur Hydro Electric Project has also received Greentech Environment Excellence Bronze Award for the second time for appropriately addressing environmental aspects during construction stage of the project especially as per the laid down environment clearance guidelines. The Award is for meeting the parameters and excellent policies adopted by the Project for environment management.
These awards were presented at a function of Greentech, 2007 Global Conference with Hon. Chief Minister of Goa Shri Digamber V. Kamath as Chief Guestat Goa held on 29th August, 2007. The awards were received by Shri N.C Bansal, General Manager (NJHPS) and Shri V.K Chaudhary, DGM of the Nathpa Jhakri Power Station.
