Government Institutes Police Inquiry into Vidhan Sabha Violence

The government has blamed the BJP for the violence that took place at the Vidhan Sabha complex where parallel rallies were being held by BJP and Congress party.
Talking to the media Kaul Singh Thakur, minister for irrigation and public health said that the government had assigned RL Sood, DIG police, South Range, to hold an enquiry into the whole incident, including the death of a child. “We have asked that the enquiry be completed within a forthnight,” said Kaul Singh
He said that the police acted with utmost restraint and self control, despite grave provocation. They were successful in dispersal of agitators and prevention of further violence. Six police personnel including AP Singh, district Superintendent Police were injured in the incident, he said.
On the issue that the state congress party president Viplove Thakur had reservations about holding the samarthan rally in the first place said, “Viplove Thakur (who was conspicuously not present at yesterday’s meet) had to rush to Delhi as a party whip had been issued for a parliamentary session. Viplove Thakur happens to be a Rajya Sabha member.”
He said that both the political parties had been issued separate venues for conducting their demonstrations but the situation was vitiated when the BJP workers were led by their leaders Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal marched from Ambedkar Chowk and attempted to disrupt the congress rally at Kennedy Chowk.
Separately chief minister Virbhadra Singh in a communiqué condemned the violence that took place yesterday and blamed Shanta Kumar and Dhumal for having acted irresponsibly by
