HAMIRPUR: The audio CD released by suspended Congress MLA, Major Vijay Singh Mankotia has created ripples in the political circles of Himachal Pradesh. This CD is being heard with rapport attention by the people. While the BJP people are elated with the release of the CD and feel that it will help them in the bye election to Hamirpur Lok sabha seat, the Congress leaders and workers say that it will not harm them any way.
Sat Mahajan, Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister and in-charge of election campaign of the party in Hamirpur district told this reporter that the CD would prove nothing and it was meaningless. He said that it would not harm the Congress any way.
However, in the meantime, the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEC),
accusing BJP of violating model code of conduct.
HPCC, secretary, S.P. Katiyal in a written complaint has mentioned that an audio cassette released by Major Vijay Singh Mankotia is being publically played during the rallies in Hamirpur constituency, which is a violation of model code of conduct. He had alleged that the said cassette had no reference to its producer and seems to be doctored by the BJP to malign the image of Congress. He has demanded necessary action against the BJP, for violating model code of conduct.
