Governor flagged off All India Girls Trekking Expedition

V.S. Kokje, Governor flagged off All India Girls Trekking Expedition of NCC from Kalyani Helipad today.
Speaking on the occasion, Kokje said that NCC has rendered valuable service to the nation by creating a reservoir of disciplined and patriotic young men and women. The motto of NCC, ‘Unity and Discipline’ will lead them on the right path throughout their life. They are the future of our nation and it is their duty to fulfil the vision of our country of becoming a developed Nation by the year 2020 and be counted as an economic super power and such training and expedition in NCC will go a long way in realizing the vision, he added.
Kokje further said that participation in this expedition should be with full gusto since adventure activities provide a healthy relief from routine life and bring them closer to nature and enjoy the scenic beauty of the region which is abundant in varied flora and fauna. He hoped that NCC cadets who have come together for this expedition from various States of the country will remember this camp and the locals for the rest of their life and will carry a message of peace and clean and green environment which amply found in these mountains and valleys of Dev Bhoomi Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier, Col. N.K. Mehta, Group Commander, NCC, Group Headquarters, Shimla welcomed the Governor and detailed out the activities of NCC in Himachal Pradesh.
Governor also gave away the Mementos to the cadets and witnessed the models of Aircrafts, Navyships and other weapons displayed by Naval and Air wing of NCC on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the girls cadets on the occasion.
