Governor stressed upon preservation of Tribal Culture

V.S. Kokje, Governor stressed upon preservation and conservation of ‘Adivasi’ culture so that their separate identity could be maintained. He was speaking in the inaugural function of a three-day long National Seminar on Tribal Culture jointly organized by Adivasi
(tribal) Academy, Language Research and Publication Centre, Vadodara, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh Art and Culture Academy and Language, Art and Culture Department here today.
He said that efforts should be made to preserve their culture besides providing them all basic facilities and added that sociologists and artists could play a significant role in this direction. He also stressed upon the need for research and study on this subject.
Governor lauded the activities of Adivasi Academy and said that it proposed to open a Research Centre ‘Himlok’ in district Kinnaur and opening of a Tribal Research Centre in the State was also under consideration. He expressed hope that these Research Centre would contribute towards preservation of tribal culture.
Earlier, Dr. Ganesh Devi, Founder Trustee, Adivasi Academy, Language, Research and Publication Centre, Vadodara detailed out the objectives of the National Seminar.
