Himachal launches NREGS for Mandi district

Himachal Chief Minister launched the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for district Mandi by distributing 50 job cards from all the sub-divisions of the district at Padhar in Drang segment of district Mandi today.
Virbhadra Singh announced Civil Sub-Division for Drang segment at Padhar and added that PTA recruitment ban had been withdrawn and B.Ed. condition for recruitment of Lecturers had been relaxed to provide teachers in every educational institution, especially in remote and difficult areas.
Chief Minister said that for bringing entire State under the provisions of NREGS, the matter had been raised at the highest level and out of remaining eight districts alteast two more districts were likely to be added in the near future. He said that scheme was not limited to a single member of a family even entire family could obtain job cards and avail benefits under the scheme. He said that the programme aimed at providing skilled work, within the radius of five kms. from their homes within 15 days failing which card holders were eligible to get the allowance without work.
